The IntelliLung consortium met at the Institute Mihajlo Pupin in Belgrade for its fifth General Assembly. Researchers, clinicians, and industry partners came together to discuss the current state of the project, address remaining questions, and integrate the various workstrands. As the project enters its final year, the focus has shifted from developing individual components to validating the overall approach and translating the results into a system that supports clinicians at the bedside.
Clinical validation is a central priority for the remaining project period. The prospective observational multicentre study, launched in 2025, is designed to include more than 500 mechanically ventilated patients across several centres and to evaluate the IntelliLung algorithm using real-world clinical data. In Belgrade, the partners discussed the progress of this work alongside the remaining technical, clinical and implementation tasks. The General Assembly provided an important opportunity to connect these pieces – and to define what needs to happen before the project concludes in 2027.
Beyond the scientific discussions, the meeting showed once again how valuable it is to bring the entire consortium together in person, exchange ideas directly and strengthen the collaboration across disciplines and institutions. A big thank you to the Institute Mihajlo Pupin and especially to Valentina, Milos and Dejan for the warm welcome and excellent organisation of the meeting.
